This week, David Campos, District 9 member of the Board of Supervisors, joined with District 9 Supervisor John Avalos in introducing a charter amendment to strengthen ranked choice voting and democracy in San Francisco. Their amendment would affirm the city's commitment to RCV, with improvements to reduce the number of frivolous candidates and encourage a transition to allowing voters to rank more than three candidates.

Meanwhile, Steven Hill's latest "thought of the day" explains why the city benefits from not having a runoff election this week. As a direct contrast, the city of Lewiston (Maine) this week had a runoff on Tuesday for mayor. The "winner" had fewer votes than the "loser" had earned in November. Worse than that, that losing candidate tragically died last week. Some "mandate" for the "winner."
